I have been on this weight loss journey before, but I've never been super serious about making the changes needed to change my life. This time is different, this time I'm going to do it! I am fed up with being so embarrassingly large, completely uncomfortable, always tired and feeling like crap all the time!
What are my other motivational points for finally making this change?
- I want look better on the outside (no more thigh-rubbing, clothes to fit better, feel attractive)
- I want to feel better physically (be stronger, live longer, have more energy)
- I want to feel better emotionally (more self-esteem, confidence, prove to myself that I can do this!)
- I want to be more active (play with my kids, outdoors activities with my family)
I am making changes a little at a time. I know myself too well and if I would have jumped in with both feet by completely giving up soda and unhealthy food, along with, starting an intensive exercise regime, I would have given up almost as quickly as I started. Oh, and by intensive exercise regime, I mean pretty much any exercise as I am really sedentary. I'm start with a change every week to my lifestyle, sometimes they'll be big changes and sometimes they'll be small changes. I'm figuring by the end of February, I will be living the way I plan to for the rest of my life!
I actually started my weight loss journey last Monday, January 4. New Year, New Resolutions! I'm using an awesome resource for my journey, SparkPeople. This site offers so many things from an actual planned diet to exercise tracking to message boards and teams of others trying to lose weight and get healthy, I could go on and on. Please check it out if you want to make a healthy change in your life!
My goal/change for last week (the first week of this journey) was to get 64 oz of water every day!! I only actually made my goal 2 out of 7 days, but I'm still proud of myself. Before that week, I only drank water occasionally, maybe up to two glasses a day, but more often than not I didn't drink water AT ALL. I may have only hit goal twice last week, but two other days I got 3/4 of the way there and I consider it a success. This week is looking to be much better with water intake.
My goal/change for this week is to track through SparkPeople all my food/beverage intake every day. So far, so good. It's pretty eye-opening when I see how many calories, fats, carbs I eat in one day.
