Today's activity for the Gratitude Challenge is to write about something I am grateful for in my life today. It may not be much, but I'm grateful for money in the bank these days. A huge reason for our move last year was to get us out of debt and out of the red every month. My husband and I were both working full-time jobs (my husband even had a couple part-time jobs over the past couple years) and we still struggled to pay the bills every month.
With two boys in full-time daycare, two vehicles to maintain with 50 mile daily commutes on both of them and student loans to pay off we were sinking. A good portion of what I made went to pay our childcare expenses and it just didn't add up. We chose to make a leap of faith and move somewhere that might make it easier for us to save some money and provide a better life for our children.
We don't have a lot extra now since we live on one income, but we made some sacrifices. We traded in our vehicles that both needed a lot of work done and we still had a payment on one for ONE newer minivan. It can be tough to be a one car family, but it's working for us and financially saves us a ton right now. The little extra that we do have now though is such a blessing. I can go get my haircut and not worry if we have the funds or take the boys out for a fun day and amazingly enough we can pay our monthly bills on time, not when the late fees start adding up worrying that our services might get turned off.
I am grateful for that money in the bank, even if it's no fortune.

I am so thankful that your move has allowed you stress less over money. That is a big blessing!
